EDITORIAL GUIDELINES

GENERAL INFORMATION

The paper must be written in a language of your choice between Italian and Spanish, accompanied by English version (specification 1-7). The authors can also submit the paper only in English (specifications 3-7).
The paper must not exceed 15.000 characters, including an abstract (max 600 characters): it can be equipped of images (maximum 10 figures).
The submission of the paper implies that it is unpublished. The authors ensure that texts and images published are not subject to copyright. Particular attention must be paid to mention the sources and any work of other authors; each citation must be properly verified by the authors.
The editorial staff reserves the right to make editorial changes that may become suitable. 
Remember to indicate all the authors of each full paper
Publication in the Proceedings of the Conference will be subject to payment of the registration fee by at least one author.

GUIDELINES FOR PAPER SUBMISSION

Paper submission is carried out by direct uploading of the following files:

  1. a text file with title, abstract, keywords, full text and endnotes, in .doc or .docx, in a language chosen among Italian, or Spanish;
  2. a text file with figure captions, in .doc or .docx, in the chosen language;
  3. a text file with the English version of the full text, in .doc or .docx;
  4. a text file with the English version of figure captions, in .doc or .docx;
  5. a text file with bibliography, in .doc or .docx;
  6. a file in .tiff for each image, maximum 10 images;
  7. a file in .pdf, freely composed, with: title, abstract full text, images and figure captions in the chosen language; title, abstract, full text, images and figure captions in English; bibliography. In this file MUST NOT appear the name (the names) of the author (the authors), the belonging structure, nor any reference that can make him (them) recognizable.

 

  1. FULL TEXT:
  • depending on the chosen language, the author must name the file (.doc or .docx) according to the following syntax:

surname_name_text_ita,

surname_name_text_esp;

  • text font: Arial (11pt, single-spaced); for characters in Greek: GreekC;
  • the file must include, in the subsequent order:
  1. focus;
  2. work title (in the chosen language);
  3. author’s name (names);
  4. author (authors) information: belonging structure (Department and University), e-mail;
  5. abstract (in the chosen language): max 600 characters, including spaces. The abstract must briefly frame the context of the study, the state of the art on the subject, the methodology, results and conclusions of the study. It will be appropriate to avoid any citation and bibliographic reference;
  6. key words (in the chosen language): a 3 keywords must be given for indexing the paper;
  7. full text (in the chosen language): maximum 15.000 characters including spaces, with abstract, endnotes and bibliography (in a separate file, see 5.);
  • special attention must be paid to retrieve the sources and any work of other authors;
  • each citation must be verified by the author;
  • terms in a different language from the chosen must be written in italics;
  • full text can be divided in paragraphs;
  • notes must be endnotes, with text references in Arabic numerals. For references that are included in the bibliography file, you must indicate only surname and year, page (pages) (ex: Kemp 1994, pp 123-125.). For references that are not included in the bibliography file, you must indicate the full title, following the criteria for bibliographic citations (see point 3);
  • references to figures, if required, should be included in the text in parentheses: ex: (fig. 1), (figs. 1, 2), (figs. 1-3);

Authors may write the paper directly in English (see point 3).

  1. CAPTIONS:
  • depending on the chosen language, the author must name the file (.doc or .docx) according to the following syntax:

surname_name_captions_ita,

surname_name_captions_esp;

  • text font: Arial (11pt), for characters in Greek: GreekC;
  • captions of the figures must be numbered consecutively: 1_, 2_, 3_, etc.

Authors may write the paper directly in English (see point 3).

  1. ENGLISH TEXT:
  • the author must name the file (.doc or .docx) according to the following syntax:

surname_name_text_eng;

  • the paper must be written in English (title, abstract, keywords, full text with endnotes), maintaining the structure and editorial guidelines listed in point 1.
  1. ENGLISH CAPTIONS:
  • the author must name the file (.doc or .docx) according to the following syntax:

surname_name_captions_eng;

  • text font: Arial (11pt, single-spaced), for characters in Greek: GreekC;
  • captions of the figures must be numbered consecutively: 1_, 2_, 3_, etc.
  1. BIBLIOGRAPHY:
  • the author must name the file (.doc or .docx) according to the following syntax:

surname_name_biblio;

  • references follow the International Standard ISO 690 of 1987, national adoption in February 2007, In particular:

Monographs

Surname and Name of the author (the full name). Year of publication. Work title (italics). Place of publication: publishing house, year, number of pages of the volume. ISBN: 123456. Eventual title of the original edition in the original language, with the same criteria. The place of publication must be indicated in the original language. For example:
Kemp Martin, 1994. La scienza dell’arte: prospettiva e percezione visiva da Brunelleschi a Seurat. Firenze: Giunti, 1994, 4254 p. Traduzione di XXXX. ISBN: 123456. Ed. orig. The science of art: optical themes in western art from Brunelleschi to Seurat. New Haven: Yale University press, 1990. ISBN 123456.

Papers in monographs

Surname and name of the author (the full name). Year of publication. Work title. In Surname, Name of the author (the full name). Title of the monograph (italics). Place of publication: publishing house, year, eventual volume, pages. ISBN: 123456. Eventual title of the original edition in the original language, with the same criteria. The place of publication must be indicated in the original language. For example:

Wrigley Martin, 1994. Brunelleschi. In Steel David. La scienza dell’arte: prospettiva e percezione visiva da Brunelleschi a Seurat. Firenze: Giunti, 1994, vol. 2, pp. 44­56. ISBN: 1234.

Papers in journals

Surname and Name of the author (the full name). Year of publication. Work title. Journal title (italics), year, eventual volume, pages. For example:
Wrigley Martin, 1968. Brunelleschi. Disegnare. Idee Immagini, 42, 201, 1968, pp. 44-56.

  1. FIGURES:
  • each file, in .tiff, must contain a single image: it must be named according to the following syntax (images must be progressively numbered):

surname_name_fig01, etc.;

  • images (maximum 10 figures) must be produced at a resolution of 300 dpi, base 15 cm;
  • numbers of the figures must match those mentioned in the text.
  1. PDF DOCUMENT FOR BLIND PEER REVIEW:
  • The author must name the file .pdf according to the following syntax (the file will be renamed by the system, removing the author’s name and replacing it with the corresponding code):

surname_name_rw;

  • the text in the file must be the same of others files in .doc or .docx, but it must be anonymous to ensure proper evaluation by the reviewers. To this end name (names) of the author (or authors) and author information (or authors) MUST NOT appear.
  • the file MUST include two versions (chosen language and English) with:
  1. focus,
  2. work title,
  3. abstract,
  4. full text with endnotes, figures with captions, bibliography;
  • the images must be inserted in the position preferred by the author, in a free layout that is strictly functional to the to the blind peer review;
  • the foreign authors that will submit the paper exclusively in English, will sent the document for the blind peer review only in this version.

SUBMISSION

Paper submission is carried out by direct uploading of the following phases.

UPLOADING THE SUBMISSION (PDF FILE, ITEM 7 IN THE EDITORIAL GUIDELINES)

To upload a paper to this conference, complete the following steps:after login on this page, click your active submission then “Choose File” which opens a window for locating the file on your computer; click “Open” on the choose file window, which places the name of the file on this page; click “Upload” on this page, which uploads the file from the computer to the conference’s web site and renames it following the conference’s conventions. Once the submission is uploaded, click “Save and Continue” at the bottom of this page.

UPLOADING SUPPLEMENTARY FILES (IN A ZIP FOLDER)

Texts and images as at items 1-6 or 3-6, depending on the chosen language, in these editorial guidelines.

The files will be compressed in a unique upload folder (.zip format) – so renamed: surname_name – and will be available to the Organizing Committee in their original format for the purposes of possible subsequent publication.

At the next step METADATA OF EDITABLE FILE fill the form relating to the “Title” (* mandatory field: surname_name) and possibly to the “Type” (“Other”). Then “End the submission”.

IMPORTANT NOTE FOR AUTHORS

In relation to the naming of the files for the upload on the website, the authors have to pay special attention to the correct syntax of typing.

  Abstract Submission Guidelines

The official languages of the conference are Italian, English and Spanish.
Rules for compiling an abstract (in one of the official languages and in English).

Suggested Topic: 

 Divide the abstract into four parts:

1- Short description of the study object
2- State of the art and main bibliographic references
3- Definition of the methodologies used in the research
4- Objectives pursued and achieved

For each part write about 600 characters, and in total 2400 characters, including spaces.

In acceptance of the abstract, you are asked to report the availability of presenting the paper in English as it is expected to have at least one English language session.

Abstract and paper acceptance will be subject to a double blind review. Papers selected will be published. Only a number of selected papers will be admitted for oral presentation.
Registration to the Conference is mandatory for every participant and it is necessary to include approved papers in Conference Proceedings.

If you are already registered in the website (i.e. during the Conferences UID2014, UID2015, etc.), you can retrieve your forgotten password; if not, you should make the registration of a new account by creating an “Author account”.
In order to submit an abstract for the UID2018 Conference, after login process, click on “STEP ONE OF THE SUBMISSION PROCESS” (Step 1) and put your Submission information by filling the online-form (Step 2) with your data. After that, you must attach a representative image of your contribution (Step 3); the picture file has to be in tiff format. Finally go through the end of the process by clicking on “close the submission” (Step 4)
